Thirds Match Report – Round 9 Ainslie v Murrumbidgee (Ainslie Oval)
Match Report
It was like we had forgotten everything we had worked so hard at for the past three weeks and thought we could just go out and run all over quality opposition. Murrumbidgee soon took away those thoughts and it took until after the half time break, before we went back to basics and at least tried to slow them down. There was still 100% effort but, 0% accountability and for some strange reason we waited for the ball to come to us rather than attacking at every opportunity, so consequently we were second (mostly last) to every contest and giving away stupid free kicks.
At half time they were told again that everyone had to be accountable and it was iterated that meant everyone. So by looking at the second half scores Murrumbidgee 5-5 to Ainslie 5-2 there was not that much difference between the teams, just who was smarter. Also in the second half because we were harder and actually first to the contest we got our fair share of free kicks.
Summary
So another disappointing game where we wasted all our energy chasing the ball, not beating our opponent, lack of composure, and playing as individuals; not a team.
